A Letter to My Readers
Seven months have passed since I first shared the news about losing my Amazon KDP account, and I felt it was time to speak to you again, more calmly, more clearly, and with a fuller picture of where things stand now.
My writing has always come from a very real place. The poems and stories in books like Poetry of an Addict: Refined Reflection and Sins, Scars, and Second Chances were never written to chase algorithms or rankings. They were written to survive, to make sense of addiction, recovery, shame, faith, relapse, hope, and the long road between who we were and who we’re trying to become. Many of you found pieces of yourselves in those words, and that connection has always mattered more to me than any storefront.
Earlier this year, my Amazon account was permanently closed after I violated their terms of service. I opened a second account to publish under a pen name, not realizing that it violated their rules. There was no intent to deceive, no hidden information, and no attempt to game the system, but intent doesn’t change policy. I made the mistake, appealed it, and Amazon chose not to reinstate the account. That chapter is closed.
Losing Amazon was difficult, not financially, but emotionally. What hurt most was the fear of losing touch with readers who had walked alongside me through some very heavy truths. But time has a way of bringing perspective, and I’ve come to understand something important: the work didn’t disappear just because one door closed.
My books are still very much alive.
You can continue to find my work through other retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, Smashwords, Google Play, and more. I’ve also partnered with an audiobook distributor connected to Spotify and Apple Audio, which means my audiobooks will reach readers across 33 platforms. In addition, a new print distributor I work with has a partnership with Amazon, so print editions of some titles have already been returned there, with others on the way.
Because Amazon eBooks are not currently an option, many of my books are now sold as EPUB files. Below this letter, you’ll find simple, step-by-step instructions on how to transfer an EPUB file to your Kindle so you can keep reading without interruption.
I’m still writing. I’m still telling the stories that need telling. Writing has been part of my life since I was twelve years old, and that hasn’t changed; if anything, it’s grown steadier, more intentional, and more honest.
Thank you for staying. Thank you for adapting. Thank you for reading.
And if you’re in that place, the hard place, the lonely place, the place where you’re not sure you’ll make it out, please know this: I see you. I’ve been there. Keep going. There is a way forward.
—Brett C. Persson

Where the Wind Carries Us: Stories of Grief, Hope, and the Roads Between
Available March 17th, 2026
Where the Wind Carries Us is a collection of quietly powerful stories about people standing at the edges of their lives, caught between what has been lost and what still calls them forward. Set in lonely towns, passing trains, desert roads, prison release offices, coastal waters, and familiar park benches, these stories follow ordinary people in moments when one choice, one conversation, or one step could change everything.
Inside these pages are a pastor who has walked away from his faith, a man learning how to live again after twelve years in prison, a girl fighting against the labels her town has carved into her name, and an old widower who returns each morning to the bench where love once lived. There are grieving families scattered by the wind, strangers whose lives briefly overlap, young people desperate to escape small towns, and quiet souls drawn toward something unseen but deeply felt.
Bound by themes of grief, redemption, resilience, and the fragile hope that survives even our darkest seasons, these stories explore the spaces between loss and healing, past and possibility. Some are tender and reflective, others unsettling or touched with mystery, but all are rooted in the emotional truth of what it means to keep going when stopping would be easier.
Thoughtful, intimate, and deeply human, Where the Wind Carries Us invites readers to slow down, listen closely, and follow the quiet pull of stories that remind us we are not as alone as we think, and that sometimes the wind knows exactly where we need to go.
The Forgotten Pages: Tales Born, Forgotten, and Found Again
-NOW AVAILABLE-
The Forgotten Pages is a heartfelt collection of short fiction pulled from over 30 years of writing, some penned in the wide-eyed wonder of youth, others shaped by the hard-won wisdom of adulthood. Blending genres, moods, and moments in time, this patchwork of stories reflects a writer’s journey across decades of imagination, growth, and rediscovery.
Inside, you'll find stories that are funny, strange, tender, dark, and deeply human. Some were nearly lost forever, buried in old notebooks, dusty folders, and half-finished files. Now, they finally get their chance to breathe.
Whether you're drawn to nostalgia, curious about the evolution of a writer’s voice, or just looking for an unpredictable ride through fiction, this collection offers something unique: a glimpse into what survives when we finally clean out the drawer.
Raw. Reflective. Unexpected.
This is storytelling reclaimed.
