A Letter to My Readers
For years, I’ve poured my truth into poetry, raw, unfiltered, and carved out of the pain and healing that come with addiction, recovery, and everything in between. Books like Poetry of an Addict: Refined Reflection and Sins, Scars, and Second Chances weren’t written to chase trends. They were written to survive and, hopefully, to help others survive as well or to possibly better understand a loved one who suffered from addiction.
Recently, my Amazon KDP account was shut down. I made a mistake; I opened a second account to write under a pen name, not realizing it violated the terms of service. I hadn’t reviewed the TOS since I opened my account over 12 years ago when I started publishing through KDP. I used my real info—no secrets, no tricks—but I didn’t realize it was against their terms, it was an ignorant mistake on my part. That was on me. I owned up to it, but they denied my appeal and shut it down anyway.
It was a hard loss. Not because of the royalties or rankings, but because I feared losing the connection I had with many of my readers who saw themselves in my words and had reached out to me, people walking through the same fire I once did.
But this isn’t the end of the road. Far from it.
My writing lives on, and so does the mission behind it. You can still find my books on Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Smashwords, Kobo, and other online retailers. And I’ll keep writing—because there are still stories to tell, wounds to speak to, and lives to reach. Writing has been part of my life in one form or another since I was 12 years old, and nothing is going to change that.
Thank you for walking this path with me. Your support means more than I can ever fully put into words.
If you’ve been there… if you’re still there… I see you. Keep going, there is a way out.
— Brett C. Persson
6/7/25 Update:
I’m excited to share some recent updates! My books are now available on Google Play for the first time, and I’ve partnered with a division of Spotify that will distribute my audiobooks to 33 online retailers. Additionally, my new print distributor has a partnership with Amazon, so print editions of some of my books are already available there with the rest coming soon.
The Forgotten Pages: Tales Born, Forgotten, and Found Again
July 1st, 2025
The Forgotten Pages is a heartfelt collection of short fiction pulled from over 30 years of writing, some penned in the wide-eyed wonder of youth, others shaped by the hard-won wisdom of adulthood. Blending genres, moods, and moments in time, this patchwork of stories reflects a writer’s journey across decades of imagination, growth, and rediscovery.
Inside, you'll find stories that are funny, strange, tender, dark, and deeply human. Some were nearly lost forever, buried in old notebooks, dusty folders, and half-finished files. Now, they finally get their chance to breathe.
Whether you're drawn to nostalgia, curious about the evolution of a writer’s voice, or just looking for an unpredictable ride through fiction, this collection offers something unique: a glimpse into what survives when we finally clean out the drawer.
Raw. Reflective. Unexpected.
This is storytelling reclaimed.
